Adopt a rescue
At Flora Farms, we strongly believe in supporting animal rescue efforts and being a vital part of our community's well-being.
While we're not a rescue organization and are not able to provide foster care for rescued animals, we've created a program to uplift and assist our dedicated staff members who work as independent animal rescuers. Together, we organize adoption events to allow potential adopters to meet these animals in person.
Beyond physical gatherings, our social media presence helps share these rescue stories with a wider audience.
Our goal is to unite these resilient animals with caring individuals who can provide them with the love and care they deserve.
Through teamwork and connection, we aim to create a network of hope and homes for every rescue, welcoming them into loving hearts and households.

TRINA
Female
6 years old
Size: medium (23kg/50lbs)
Trina is a deeply loving girlie with a gentle soul and a remarkably resilient heart. On New Year’s Eve, she bolted in fear and was hit by a car, leaving her injured and frightened. In a desperate search for safety, Trina ran into the Flora Farms shopping area, where her story took a hopeful turn when one of our staff members stepped in and offered to foster her.
Trina suffered a pelvic fracture that could have changed her life, but thanks to timely veterinary care and her incredible spirit, her injury was able to heal naturally without the need for surgery. Throughout her recovery, Trina has remained sweet, trusting, and eager for affection — a true testament to the kind heart she carries despite everything she has endured. She shows signs of having lived in a home before, as she responds to basic commands and has good manners. Trina thrives on love and attention and enjoys being close to her humans, always ready for gentle affection.
Now fully recovered, Trina is ready for a second chance with a loving family who can offer her stability, kindness, and the warmth of a forever home. She has already shown how strong she is — all she needs now is someone to love her as much as she will love them in return. 🐾
KOKO
Male
1 year old
Size: large (25kg/55lbs)
Koko was rescued from an abusive home after enduring many months of neglect. Like many street pups, he never had the chance to enjoy a carefree puppyhood without the constant worries of survival. Thankfully, a kind local couple stepped in to change his life forever. With their love and patience, Koko has finally been able to experience what it means to have fun and be truly loved.
Despite his past hardships, Koko has remained a very playful, affectionate, and extremely social pup, which makes him an ideal companion for a family with kids and other dogs. Koko thrives in company and truly blossoms when he’s surrounded by dog friends to play with and humans to love. He’s very clever and can be a little mischievous at times, so keeping him mentally and physically stimulated is key. When it’s time to relax, Koko is a cuddle bug through and through.
With his intelligence and joyful energy, we believe Koko would be a wonderful fit for an active family with other dogs and plenty of interaction, where he can continue to grow, learn, and feel part of a pack. And as a bonus—he also loves water!
If you’re interested in giving Koko the loving home he deserves, please reach out to us at animals@flora-farms.com.
TEDDY
Male
11 months old
Size: medium (10kg/23lbs)
At only 9 months old, Teddy found himself lost on the streets of San Jose, where he was unfortunately hit by a car and left injured and alone. Luckily, a local family found him and tended to his wounds, which were mostly superficial. During his first vet consult, Teddy was also diagnosed with TVT (a transmissible cancer). When his owner finally came forward and learned about Teddy’s condition, she chose not to take responsibility and surrendered him to his rescuers.
Teddy faced treatment with incredible strength, and thanks to his cancer being caught very early, he only needed 2 rounds of chemo to fully heal ! Today, he is completely cancer-free and ready to begin a new chapter. He is a happy, playful boy who loves being around other dogs and kids, and he would truly thrive in a home with canine companions where he can play, socialize, and feel part of a pack.
Teddy is a resilient little soul who has known hardship but still chooses love every single day. He’s now looking for a responsible and loving family who will give him the safety, care, and affection he truly deserves. In return, Teddy promises endless cuddles, happy playtime, and a heart full of gratitude. If you’d like to know more about Teddy please feel free to reach out via email at animals@flora-farms.com.
OLIVE
Female
2 years old
Size: medium (14kg/30lbs)
Olive’s story began on the streets of San José del Cabo, where she was found malnourished, extremely weak, and expecting puppies. Her little body was too fragile to carry a pregnancy, and she was in desperate need of help. Thanks to timely rescue, medical care, and lots of love, Olive was able to rest, recover, and find her strength again. Day by day, she began to heal — not just physically, but emotionally too.
Once shy and unsure, Olive has since blossomed into a sweet, loyal, and playful companion who loves squeaky toys, fetching balls and playing chase with her dog friends, no matter their age. She gets along beautifully with other dogs, cats, horses, and even birds! Her happy and playful nature truly shines through with everyone she meets, although we believe she has a soft spot for kids.
This sweet and loving girl would thrive in an active home with a family who will include her in their everyday adventures, ideally with kids or other dogs to play with. She loves feeling part of a pack and is happiest when she’s both physically and mentally engaged. If you’re interested in giving Olive a chance, please reach out to us at animals@flora-farms.com
MANGO
Male
4.5 years old
Size: Large (34kg/74lbs)
Mango began as a beloved neighborhood dog who soon earned the title of “farm dog,” winning over the hearts of many Hayloft owners with his gentle and loving nature. A few months ago, one of them noticed he was unwell, and upon examination, our vet team discovered he was suffering from a sexually transmissible cancer known as TVT. Sadly, his previous owners considered his condition hopeless, but our veterinary team refused to give up. They immediately began chemotherapy, which has worked wonders—his tumors have nearly vanished, and he’s now only a few sessions away from being declared cancer-free! Throughout this difficult journey, Mango has remained the same cheerful, affectionate soul, always greeting us with his signature smile. He adores walks, especially when there are spots to dig freely! He’s also very friendly to everyone, including other dogs, cats and even ducks. As much as he loves being active, he’s equally happy to unwind and take relaxing naps beside his favorite person. If you’re searching for a loving companion who’s equally ready for outdoor adventures as he is for quiet moments of rest, Mango could be your perfect match !
DASSIA
Female
8 months old
Size: Medium (18kg/40lbs)
Dassia was rescued a few months ago from the streets of San Jose del Cabo by one of our wonderful staff members. Based on her initial behavior and utter fear of on-coming cars and traffic, we strongly believe she was abandoned in a busy area where they probably thought someone would take care of her. For 3 nights, she hid under a car until she finally understood she was safe and that they were there to help her. Little by little, she started coming out of her shell and showing her fun and playful nature. What she loved the most during the adjustment process was how busy her foster home was as she had other dogs, cats and even rabbits as playmates! Today, she’s become a cheerful and energetic pup who enjoys playing around with her doggy friends, as well as cuddling and getting lots of pets from her family. We’re hoping to find her an active and loving family who will take her on lots of adventures and keep showing her how love can transform you from the inside out!
MANI
Male
3-4 years old
Size: small (3.9kg/8.5lbs)
Mani, also known as Freddie, is one of our friendliest farm cats who just loves being around people! Originally a security guard, he recently decided to become part of our farm host team. His welcoming and gentle demeanor make him perfect for the job as he loves greeting staff and guests and getting lots of attention from everyone! Unfortunately, we recently discovered he has a diaphragmatic hernia which is a very severe life-threatening condition that limits the amount of air that can enter his lungs, thus completely affecting his current lifestyle as a farm cat. We’re planning on doing a correction surgery as soon as we find him a permanent home since living outdoors and without a stable family will be unsuitable for his condition post-op. He’s a very affectionate kitty who even finds it in his heart to love doggies. He’d be a great addition to a family with kids and/or other pets as he’s highly adaptable and affectionate. If you’d like to know more about Mani please feel free to reach out via email at animals@flora-farms.com
WALL-E
Male
1.7 years old
Size: medium (20kg/40lbs)
Wall-E was rescued alongside his mom and litter mates from a landfill in Guerrero Negro, more than 10hrs away from Cabo. Somehow they had managed to stay alive under those most precarious and harsh circumstances. Luckily, our friends from Baja Safe came to the rescue and were able to place all pups and mamma with loving families. Sweet Wall-E is the last one of his litter still looking for a home. He’s a very loving, loyal and playful pup who enjoys playing with other dogs and running around. Due to his traumatic past, he’s a bit shy at the beginning and takes a little time to trust a person, but after a week or so he starts showing his true colors and turns into an absolute love bug. He’s also a very active pup who’d be perfect for anyone looking for an adventure partner! If you’re interested in Wall-E or know of anyone who would be, please send us an email to animals@flora-farms.com !

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
-
Do you do animal rescue at Flora Farms? No, we don’t since we’re not a rescue organization. We have an in-house vet who provides all medical help required by each rescue and we use our grounds and our digital media as adoption platforms to put a spotlight on local animals (rescued and fostered by our staff members) to help them find their forever homes more quickly.
Do rescue animals stay at Flora Farms? No, they don’t since we don’t have a space in our grounds neither to contain them nor to tend to all their needs. All of our animals available for adoption are fostered by our wonderful staff and local volunteers.
What is the situation with the farm dogs? Farm dogs were animals that were rescued by Flora Farms’ owners more than 10 years ago when they still lived on the grounds. Sadly, they have all since passed but we've continued with our rescuing efforts through the program we’ve created to help our staff members.
-
What is the adoption process? Firstly, future adopters must fill out our adoption form so we get to know them a bit more and see if the pet they’re interested in is in fact a good match to their family and lifestyle.Secondly, we review their application and contact them via email or phone to discuss further details and/or questions.Thirdly, if the application is approved by our team we move on to planning the animal’s trip (or local drop-off) to reach its new family.Lastly, we prepare all documentation required, as well as all items needed for the travel.
Where can I find the adoption form? You can find our adoption form in English via this link: https://forms.gle/sCqp2XQn8fpror8J7
What can I do to prepare myself and my home for a new pet? A new environment can be challenging for a rescue animal so firstly we recommend being very patient with them and giving them some space to explore and settle at home. Secondly, we recommend getting a bed and a few toys or treats for them to make the experience more pleasant. Lastly, if you have other pets at home, we recommend introducing them slowly so as to avoid any overwhelming encounters and negative interactions.
What is the health status of the rescue animals? If the rescues are adults then they will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated (rabies and DHPP), and dewormed before being given up for adoption. The status of young rescues will depend on their specific situation.
How are rescues cared for before adoption? They are fostered by some of our trusted staff members and our animal welfare team takes care of taking them to the vet’s office for checks up and basic health care.
Can I bring my current pets to the adoption event to meet a potential new pet? Ideally, we prefer to set up a “meet and greet” where the adopters' pets can meet the rescue so we can evaluate how they get along and if they’ll be a good match to live together. We prefer when guests do not bring their pets to adoption events so as to give the rescues available the spotlight and to avoid any possible negative interactions linked to a bigger crowd of dogs hanging out in a busy and small area.
-
What is the adoption fee? Our adoption fees for dogs (350 USD) and for cats (300 USD) cover all of the medical and basic care our staff has put into each rescue. These fees include tests for contagious/mortal diseases, 2 rounds of internal deworming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine (dogs), FBRCP vaccine (cats), Microchipping, food and accessories required (beds, collars, toys, etc). These fees also help us keep this rescue program running and help more animals in need.
What are the expenses associated with international adoptions? If the rescue animal needs to be flown to the US or Canada, then the future adopter must cover all of its travel expenses. Some of the common travel expenses are:
Pet flight ticket (120 to 180 USD for pets in cabin, prices vary for pets in cargo)
Kennel or carrier for the trip (prices vary depending on the animal’s size). For reference, a carrier for a 17lbs rescue traveling in a cabin is usually around 60 USD. A carrier for a 45-lb rescue traveling in cargo is around 250 USD.
Other fees linked directly to each airline or the animal’s specific characteristics may arise.
-
How do I take a rescue animal back home? Rescue animals that respect the guidelines for traveling can be flown to the US or Canada via several commercial airlines that provide the service, as well as semi-private or private planes. Some of the best commercial airlines to travel with pets in-cabin are American, United, and Alaska Airlines. Some of the best airlines to travel with a pet in-cargo are Alaska and American Airlines.
The best semi-private airline for traveling with a pet (under or over 20lbs) is Aero (currently only flying to Los Angeles, CA - Van Nuys Airport). For more information on said guidelines please check the specific website for your airline. What are the rules for flying commercially with pets to the US and Canada? The most common things almost all airlines ask for are:
Pets must be over 8 weeks old to fly (some airlines request them to be older)
Pets must have had their rabies vaccines at least 1 month before traveling
It’s highly recommended to deworm the pet at least 1 month before traveling
We urge you to please check the specific website of your airline to learn more about their specific rules and guidelines for traveling with pets from Mexico.
* Semi-private or private airlines may be more flexible with these guidelines and would probably make it easier to travel with newly adopted rescues than commercial airlines.
-
What if the adoption doesn't work out? If the rescue doesn't get along with other pets or family members in the household or if there are unexpected circumstances we urge the adopters to contact us first and, if possible, find a way to return the rescue to us so we can keep it safe while we work on finding them a more suitable home.
What kind of support is offered after adoption? Our team always provides assistance during the adoption process, as well as training advice and basic assistance for newly adopted pets and their families.

Here are some ideas on how to help these lovable rescues in case you can’t adopt:
Foster: If you live in Los Cabos full-time or partially you can volunteer to foster a dog or cat for whatever amount of time you are available. We do ask our fosters to commit to at least 2 weeks of fostering (if possible) to give these rescues a little stability in their lives.
Flight escort: Many of our rescues need to reach their forever homes in Canada or the US. If you’re traveling abroad and would like to help them during their journey, you can propose yourself as a flight escort to help us transport these rescues to their final destinations. All expenses linked to the rescue’s travel would be paid for by the adopters of course. Flight escorts would only help as a vessel to take the rescue to its future home. We will also offer a small gesture from the Farm to all those wanting to lend these rescues a hand.
Donations: We will be receiving cash donations during our adoption events for anyone who’d like to help the cause. We will use these donations to pay for the rescues’ medical expenses and/or other products linked to the rescue’s basic care (food, beds, toys, kennels, etc).
